Finite Element Analysis of Aluminum

The analysis and assessment of structural strength of fore welding towing post in an aluminum wave-piercing catamaran is carried out by the finite element analysis software MSC.Patran/Nastran, the detailed stress distribution of the towing post and its attached structure is given and the structure strengthening scheme is provided based on the analysis results. This paper can provide some references for fi nite element analysis and structure optimized design for the other similar towing posts.
